So I've been working at my new center for about three days now. I got that transfer I'd been hoping for, to a center that has a happier and more motivated workforce. So far I'm liking it a lot. Part of the reason I was accepted is because I'm cross-trained in shipping and printing, which is what the manager was looking for. As a smaller center, ( Read more... )

You have to quit smoking for yourself. Not your parents, not your boyfriend, no one else. If you have to cut back gradually, then do it; whatever works for you. It's not fair for anyone in your life to expect you to give up an addiction for them, nor should that be your reasoning. It doesn't work that way... at least not for long. I've reduced my own smoking to the point where a pack is lasting me 3-4 days now, and personally, I'm content with that for now. But anyway, like I said, this is something you have to do for you, and something that only you can control.

As for the boyfriend/ex situation... not sure I can be helpful with that scenario because it is not a scenario I would ever accept. It's not a trust thing; I've dated guys with female roommates before. But there's a big diff between roommate and ex and all the drama that usually comes with that, so... yeah. I wish you luck with all of that.

I've been doing the gradual thing; I tried going cold turkey, but I was starting to lose my shit at work. I've gone from half a pack a day to about four or five cigarettes a day. This week, I'm going to try taking it down a little more. My parents and my boyfriend want what's best for me, even if they're being hypocrites. All three smoke; have for years. I'm a little angry about that, but I realized the futility of trying to get my mom to quit years ago.

Thanks. It's been really difficult. I've talked with him about it, and he agrees that the best course of action would be for him to move out. It's weird; he's generally such a logical guy, but it's like it all goes out the window when he starts talking about the house.
