Because why kill yet another (peripheral, yes, recurring, yes, but STILL) female character? Jackie Vance was a good character. Whose flaw, apparently, was being female in Hollywood.
I can't help but think that if Director Vance had been female, the director would be dead. NCIS has a pretty high kill ratio for female characters - where are the male ones who are dead?
