Hi, all! I've been away quite a bit, in part because I've had the on-the-edge-of-sickness, feeling-like-crap feeling for...oh, all of January and a good chunk of December. :-/ Not sure what that's all about. Hope something will come of it in March when I have my check up ( Read more... )

Thank you! It's kind of in response to being lazy and unmotivated (and gaining back a bit of weight) from mid-Dec. to mid-January. My blood sugars went from 117 to 104 in a year, and in March I get a six month check up on the sugars. I want the downward trend to continue, but my eating has been slipping somewhat (more carbs in the mix, more bad stuff) and I know I've put on five pounds again. I'm kind of yo-yo-ing in the 5-10 pound range, which is bad because I still want to lose a lot. My goal weight is 110 pounds lighter than I'm currently carrying, but a couple of people have told me my goal weight is too low. Whatever - I'd be happy with getting within 20 pounds of it, honestly - but I'm stuck up here till I get more active and eat better ( ... )

Oh, man. I'm thinking of both you and your ankles. I admire your dedication!

It's a catch-22 situation, though. I'm going to hurt while I'm this weight, and if I don't? I'm going to hurt anyway. Part of the reason why I've gotten in this situation is, it hurt/bothered me to do things. Now, I think part of that was the Vitamin D deficiency - but part is simply the weight. I've been assured that my ankles and other joints will feel better as the weight comes off - and I've been a few pounds lighter than I am, and danged if it didn't improve. So I'm looking at this as motivation to get the weight off, again. Thank you!

No prompt, just wanted to say it's good to "see" you and I hope you're feeling better soon!

Ditto! :) (As in, it's good to 'see' you as well, though I do hope I'm feeling better too.)

One of the reasons I decided to institute a change in both diet (not go on a diet, change the diet) and exercise involved weight, yes. I'd gotten up near 100 Kg. Now, add a lead suit to do radiological procedures (flouroscopy, x-rays) and add another 15-18 Kg. Knees just simply said, D00d ( ... )

Yeah, like I said, I *had* managed to improve the joints. The ankles (and, today, the shins on the outside of my leg) are still a problem, however. Today I noticed that I'm tending to do a thing I'm prone to - I have supination (walking on the outside edge of the feet and not so much on the inside, failure to 'roll' the foot when walking) and if I concentrated and forced the roll, my legs and ankles felt better.

So I'm going to try to be more aware of that and walk properly. I really can't afford to go back to a foot doctor - I saw one when I was a kid - and the inserts are bloody expensive and bloody uncomfortable. So. I'll do what I can by myself, I think.

I have 77,000 steps for the week. :)
