Letting go of him was never the problem. There was nothing left of him to let go. It had all been gone long before now. Memories buried deep in the mind were all that was left. The ache was gone by now and no more tears were left to run down the hollow cheeks.
Even the happy memories were no longer happy but tainted with hate. Everything had another meaning to it now. All the hate and resignation were lighting a fire in the heart. Hands grabbed at anything that was a reminder and gathered it in the backyard. Blurry eyes through nonexistent tears hardened and became resolved.
