I love gremlins. I guess I was like... 11 or something when it came out so I guess all the sick jokes and slapstick appealed to me. I liked it when they sang the dwarf song from snow white :D
You did good though. Did you have a zx81 or a commodore 64? Or were you super cool and had an Atari? I'd have sold my soul for an Atari.
Sorry babe, going to bed now, knackered. Ken just got home from the pub and he's being annoying and drunk so I have to go before I chuck bricks at his head. Nighty night xxx
Eeek, sorry! I didn't mean to make everyone else feel old! I grew up in the eighties - I don't think any of the stuff in this poll was actually cool back then, just cool for the 7-16 age group *g* I had the autographs of the entire cast of the kids from fame *kills self*
Now, see, I'm from the previous generation, really. I was just (*only* just) too young to be a flower child. I was a little young for Beatlemania (my older sister was the right age). And my younger sister was into David Bowie ("Who's she?" I asked on seeing the first poster of him that Viv put up in her bedroom - the one of him dressed up like a Sphinx). And she got Noddy Holder's autograph. I fell between two stools rather, and since I was (and still am) quite abominably shy, I never went out to anything and didn't have any friends to go with even had I been able to bring myself to do so. So I read books instead, and watched Star Trek and Adam Adamant and The Man from UNCLE on black-and-white TV.
However, having managed (how?) to remain fairly young at heart, I did watch ET and Gremlins (and at least some of Ghostbusters!); I had a borrowed BBC B Micro (from work) for 6 months. I'm still grimly claiming to be 'only 35' (again)
I was born in 81 so I didn't own any of the items you listed - HOWEVER, I now own fingerless gloves (made by me out of a pair of fishnet tights, how bizarre) and a rara skirt, AND legwarmers. :D
Why am I so pleased with my cheesy 80s-ness? :P
Oh yeah and Gremlins rocked. Though the first time I saw it, it scared me. Love it now though :)
LOL! Rara skirts ROCKED. Everyone's ass looks good in a rara skirt. Of course, eighties fashion is big again now, but my mum says you should never wear retro if you can remember it the first time around so I'm steering well clear *g*
*snicker* Depressing isn't it? I had many pairs of legwarmers. I used to wear them to gymnastics, though god knows why. It wasn't like my legs ever got cold...
