Stephen was considering the elaborately locked door, head tilted, eyes focused.
Ryan could see the wheels in his analytical brain turning. For all his physicality, Stephen was still a scientist at heart. Sometimes Ryan forgot.
That was fine, though: Ryan was soldier enough for both of them. There were times for thinking, times for action, and with the anomaly apparently on the verge of closing, thinking was a luxury.
One solid kick and the door burst inwards, another and the attacking troodon was tumbling arse over claw straight back into the shrinking anomaly.
At Stephen's raised eyebrow, Ryan grinned. "Pub?"

"You've put superglue on them, haven't you?"
"Just give me a shout when you're ready to surrender." Lyle waggled his mug. "I'm getting myself a refill."
"Never going to happen."
"Stringer said the same, and Ditzy, and I think I remember Finn begging. Stupid bugger should have gone to the loo before..." Lyle's voice trailed off as he walked away.
It took Ryan another five minutes and cost him a broken thumbnail.
