In case any of you wanted to know what a fake travelers checque looks like compared to a real one. I had a fake on that someone tried to pass off on months ago(I kept it). I happened to get a real AmEx one today, so I thought it would be nice to compare the two...
The $100 one is real, the $500 on the right is fake.
Front:
Back:
Notice the real microprinting in the "1" of the $100. Notice how fake one isn't nearly as crisp.
Notice how many of the lines have run together in the printing process in the helmet of the fake one.
See the real hologram effect compared to the silver foil on the right.
The security strip is fake. Notice the strip "ends." It doesn't even go to the border because this is printed on.
The real strip is visible all the way through when held up to light, the fake strip is printed on surface & does not go all the way through the bill.
The fake watermark is printed on the surface in a light gray, it nearly disappears when you hold it up to the light, exactly opposite of what a real watermark does!
