Dolls in Bangkok (pic heavy)

Continuing from my Thailand Report http://rossse.livejournal.com/54908.html , here comes doll geekery!!

Okay, so I had talked to Morijung at Pullipstyle before we left, she lives in Bangkok and told me where to find the best dolly stores, specifically Monaedolly and Bambino shops at Chatuchak weekend market (which I'm saving for last ;)).

Now, I did not expect doll shops to be around every other corner! The first encounters were at MBKs top two floors, where they had many shops that sold Blythe, Pullips and clothes/accessories for these.

This shop is next to the awesometastic video game store at MBK (which every vintage game lover needs to visit)

And here's another one

All of the stores displayed really pretty Blythe customs, so even a Blythe-disliker like me enjoyed it :)

I'm not kidding you, the whole of Bangkok seemed to be in a Blythe-craze! Blythes were everywhere, they were even sold in regular department stores and similar. The book stores had several books about Blythes, often up on display as soon as you entered the store.

In every little market along the streets as well as shops in train stations and similar, they had cheap Blythe-rip offs, in many different brands and styles. They were about $10 and I really wanted to get one, but I didn't find one I liked enough... And I only now realize how stupid I was to not at least take a single photo of them! >_<

All the optitians had this sign outside their shops

And the hair dye sold in stores... had blythes on their friggin packaging!

Apart from the stores in Chatuchak market, MBK and some other assorted stores in the nearby malls, the best place for dolly shopping was China Town. There were so many doll shops, my boyfriend nearly strangled me for wanting to look in every one of them... they had the Blythe-copies along the roads, and when you walked inside they had real Blythes, Pullips and similar, as well as tonnes of clothes and accessories.

But okay, lets get to the best part already. First up, Monaedolly:

And now I give you: Pullip Heaven, also known as Bambino shop. If you are into Pullips and ever visit Bangkok, if nothing else, you NEED to go here! This guy probably has every Pullip ever made up on display, plus he is really friendly and nice to talk to!

Well, that's it! I would so have taken more and better pics at all the stores I saw, but my boyfriend is not into dolls so I had to compromise. I'm actually glad he put up with me doll hunting as much as I did!

Now despite the abundance of dolls, unfortunately, they weren't as cheap as I had hoped. Everything else in Thailand is hella-cheap, but apparently not dolly stuff, which cost as much as or more as buying it online. I did manage to bargain/haggle in a couple of the stores, so I got a decent price on Sfoglia and Little Donkey. I also bought these clothes:

The main fun wasn't as much in buying as in just looking though. Thailand is an amazing country, and all the doll stuff I found this time (do NOT remember any such stuff from when I was there in ´06!) only makes it even better! That country really has everything <3
