Thanks, Erin. I am a little mind-boggled by it all. I also have a strnage Rip Van Winkel-like realisation that times have changed and I've stood still. this "modern medicine" is pretty impressive...

I didn't realise I actually had a phobia about surgery after what happened in the early '90s. A friend suggested this might be a chance to overcome that and I feel I have now. It's restored some of my optimism and the medical staff were really supportive too. They didn't fob me off or treat me like a hunk of meat.
