I've a question, lovely modly ones.

Would it be possible to app a game player character here? For instance, the Warden from Dragon Age? I'm not sure if it can be defined as strictly an OC, since the game does give you definite reference points/history background and the like depending on what class/race you choose.

So, thoughts?

Now there's a tricky question, but one well worth it to mull over. (Zee might be a bit biased here as she was thinking of apping Alistair.)

Can you give us a couple days to think over it? It may well be that we would have to allow OCs if we do allow the Warden, as even if he/she is not technically an OC - there are enough OC characteristics to him/her that he/she is not the same as say...the protag from the Persona games. Also we would have to decide whether multiple versions of the Warden can exist in the Rotting World.

EEEEE ALISTAIR! /stops now

Sure, take your time! I've been mulling it over, too, trying to see all sides. If you want references to the Warden I was considering apping, I can provide DM links; she definitely has her own personality omg does she ever.

But by all means, talk amongst yourselves. Here, have some cookies to nibble in the meantime.

Are characters with previous game history allowed?

We currently don't have any rules about it, but we'd be more than happy to see if something could be worked out for them! If you would be willing to PM us, we could discuss what might need to be added to the application.

Right! This isn't the character I'm apping, BTW, he would be easier. He's already partially organic ( ... )

Or, he could just turn human and forfeit all his powers.

I mostly just don't want to deal with the PB hunt, but if it's simplest just to turn him human, then I'll go with that option?

What's your view on canon-based OCs from canons where there aren't really "main characters"? MMOs and RPG settings of all stripes, for example.

These kinds of characters are fine as long as they're not secretly related or having non-canon relations with other characters in the MMO/RPG.

For instance as long as your hero from World of Warcraft is not a lost sister of Malfurion Stormrage or a secret lover of Sylvannas (not that we all don't wish that we could be) they are fine to app.

Basically we're looking for well-rounded and developed OCs that aren't Mary Sues.

What's your stance on canonly dead characters? Are they taken to the game right before the moment of death, or can they come here post-death?

It's pretty much the player's choice.

You can take them before. You can take them after and have them be magically alive due to coming through the gate. Or you could have them become a zombie upon arrival because they're already dead. If you'd like the last one be sure to check up on the rules about player-characters becoming zombies on the Game Guide!
