(Because conflicted, submissive John caught between two dominant partners, trying to reconcile his healthy sexual relationships with his unhealthy day-to-day relationships is calling my name.)
now THAT I would read!
Thank you for these thoughts. I think I will watch the last two eps after all!
The episodes aren't horrible if you keep your expectations really low. And the third episode isn't horrible at all, though it does get a bit silly. But then, I think I'm on the extra-critical end of the fandom spectrum these days.
Yes, sentimental is the perfect word for the season. It feels so trite for a show (and protagonist) that prides itself on being exactly not that. All the emotional stuff was treated as a joke, and all the sentimental stuff was taken seriously.
But sorry, moving away from another rant there, I'm with you on the disturbing undercurrent. More of that, please, and less wedding speeches. But I guess that's what fic is for, now that I'm potentially re-motivated to write it. Thank you for listening to all my moody complaints, M. :)

*nods* There's been far too much sentimentality for me this series, but this kind of frankly disturbing undercurrent give me hope. :)
Glad you're not feeling quite so estranged from the whole thing now, R. M.
