So I've played Superstar SMTown for (kind of) awhile, and wanted to share this sort-of guide I've been making with you guys. I haven't had the time to play it recently, so some of the stuff might be outdated, but overall it shouldn't have changed that much.
Card Stats:If you noticed, each card has a heart and and a 'score' (the circle with an s in it) number.
A higher 'score' number means you get more points for each note you hit on a song while you're on that card.
A higher heart number pretty much means you get to mess up more on a song before you get the dreaded 'try again' screen lol
Every time you upgrade a card's star rank, it can gain:
For C and B ranks: 1-5 heart points and 1-5 score points.
For A ranks: 1-9 heart points and 1-9 score points.
For S ranks: 1-11 heart points and 1-11 score points.
Card Themes:Each group has certain card themes (for example, the Mr.Mr. set for SNSD and the Humanoids set for TVXQ!). If you equip enough cards of a certain theme for one group, you get a 'rave' bonus, which amplifies your score.
Rave Levels:
Level 1 / Super Rave: x2 points
Level 2 / Hyper Rave: x3 points
Level 3 / Ultra Rave: x4 points
'Group Grade':Once you've collected all of the cards in a group, you'll see a letter score in the top right. This stands for the average rank of all your cards. The higher the average rank is, the higher the amount of points you'll be given at the start of a song.
Initial Starting Points per Grade:
C: 10,000
B: 20,000
A: 30,000
S: 50,000
Cardpacks! There are three cardpacks you can buy with rhythm points: a pack of 5, a pack of 10, and a pack of 30. Here are the approximate chances of getting a card with a certain rank with each of them.
5-pack:
C: 79% (~4 cards)
B: 20% (~1 card)
A: 1% (<1 card)
S: <1% (<1 card)
10-pack:
C: 78% (~8 cards)
B: 21% (~2 cards)
A: 1% (<1 card)
S: <1% (<1 card)
30-pack:
C: 78% (~23 or 24 cards)
B: 22% (~6 or 7 cards)
A: <1% (<1 card)
S: <1% (<1 card)
(Don't ask me about the packs with rhythm points, I can't afford to spend money on them lol)
Upgrading CardsYou can use the spare cards (of any rank you) have lying around to upgrade other cards. You can use cards from other groups to do this! For example, you can use a C rank SuJu card to upgrade an B rank SNSD card. The only exception to this is if you want to upgrade a 5-star card to the next rank (ex. B -> A). In that case you would have to use two five-star cards of the same rank, from the same member.
Assuming you use a 1-star C card to upgrade, here are the chances of successfully upgrading a card to the next star level:
C(1): 52% (~2 cards used)
C(2): 38% (~3 cards used)
C(3): 31% (~3 cards used)
C(4): 34% (~3 cards used)
B(1): 22% (~4-5 cards used)
B(2): 33% (~3 cards used)
B(3): 33% (~3 cards used)
B(4): 35% (~3 cards used)
A or S rank: Don't even try
edit: they seem to have increased the upgrade success rate after the 1.2 update, I'll check to see if the above statement still applies.
Upgrading two C(5) cards to a B(1) card costs 5,000 rhythm points, with a success rate of 100%.
Upgrading two B(5) cards to a A(1) card costs 10,000 rhythm points, with a success rate of 100%.
Tips:-Use your pointer or middle fingers, not your thumbs, on normal / hard. It's easier.
-Having problems passing a song? Upgrade your cards!
-Focus on upgrading certain groups only, not all of them.
-Place your phone on a surface with a good grip.
-Keep your hands either really dry or really slippery before you play a song.
-If you're planning on playing through hard, try to upgrade your SuJu cards (I'm not joking).
Questions, I guess?Which songs should I watch out for/ prepare for/ are difficult?: In general, f(x) songs and SuJu songs. Especially Mr.Simple, SuJu's debut song, and Bonomana.
Which songs are easier? Personally, I find most of EXO's songs pretty easy. Same with BoA's and SNSD's.
Welp, that's it for now! Feel free to ask me more questions if you have any. I can try to add pictures if you guys want me to :)
