Not surprisingly, "Star Trek" made it into my
May 12 of 12.
9:34 a.m. To save some time in the morning, I've gotten into the habit of putting on my makeup at work.
11:51 a.m. Had to send PDFs of the 2009 editorial calendars to a PR rep, and this is what an economic downturn wreaks: Smaller magazines, fewer stories.
12:23 p.m. Working on gussying up the magazine's new Facebook page. This upload attempt didn't work -- probably because this uploader is too advanced for my computer -- and my next shot created the album in the wrong place. Business FB pages are tricky.
(Oh, and there will be a post on the drama surrounding our new Twitter account soon. Yes, DRAMA.)
1:16 p.m. My second cup of caffeine of the day, as it starts to brew.
2:15 p.m. The shock and awe of Adobe InDesign. The pink is extra-special for me; I don't have the magazine's fonts installed on my Mac.
4:01 p.m. Preparing for the monthly ritual known as sendouts, or contributor copies.
4:47 p.m. I've shown you pictures of product closets before, but this is a product OFFICE, and it's all MINE. It needed some reorganization today.
6:15 p.m. Stopping for gas on the way home.
7:17 p.m. A brief interlude at home to pick up bags, and then...
7:57 p.m. A massive grocery run.
8:30 p.m. Assembling a batch of chili. The colors aren't quite as pretty and jewel-toned here as they were in person, but I think you get the idea.
9:29 p.m. OK, here's your "Star Trek." While watching an episode of "The Next Generation" that recorded on the DVR on Monday night, I found an article on Wired reporting that J.J. filmed part of the movie -- the engineering scenes -- at the Van Nuys Budweiser plant that I can literally smell from the parking lot at my office. That complex is off the next exit on the 405. And I had absolutely no motherlovin' clue.
