a bit of win, a bit of fail

Jul 13, 2009 10:53

c0untmystars plays an amusing game sometimes called "Win, Fail or Draw" on her LJ, and I couldn't help but thinking about it as I uploaded these pics for your July 12 of 12.

12:32 a.m. Attempting to go to bed early (it WAS a Saturday night), but the Paul Rudd-hosted episode of SNL was repeating. You don't give up a chance to watch Justin Timberlake attempt the "Single Ladies" dance.

10:53 a.m. Went to bed early because I actually woke myself up at 8 a.m. to go to a 9:15 a.m. yoga class. The studio's on Glendale Blvd. in Atwater Village. Of course, I didn't think to take a photo until I was in the car to go home. (BTW, this is one of the entries that equals WIN.)

11:06 a.m. Stopped by a bakery in the neighborhood to pick up a little breakfast since I had nothing at home.

11:56 a.m. Having some tea and a muffin, reading the Sunday NYT and, though you can't see it, listening to "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" on streaming NPR. How blue state am I?

2:54 p.m. Hunkering down for a little nap. BTW, I've decided that the nail polish color on my toenails resembles Bridget Jones' blue soup.

4:51 p.m. Trying to get back my bearings post-nap. It was a little warmish yesterday in L.A., therefore stifling in our apartment.

5:24 p.m. Attempting to get my car washed, which needs it very badly. But even in the height of summer, the full-service car washes close at 5 p.m. on Sundays. FAIL.

6:04 p.m. Hanging out at the Bastille Day celebration in Elysian Park. It was still too warm to go home, and this was close by and cheap, so why not?

6:43 p.m. People-watching (which produced major LOLs) with a cherry snow cone. Word. This was also WIN.

7:18 p.m. FAIL. Though I think the entire French-speaking population of Los Angeles also got ticketed; the organizers of the festival did NOT do their research on parking restrictions in the area.

7:42 p.m. Annoyed but still amused by my Francophone friends, I went to the grocery store to pick up some lunches and other sundry items for the week.

10:05 p.m. Calling my parents to check in. Thank goodness they're night people.

Is it wrong that now that I've discovered that waking up at the same time on the weekends that I do during the week actually does give me more energy and ward off headaches, that I feel like The Man has won?
