6.45 am. Room number four was livened up by the screeching sound of an alarm clock which was immediately put out by a disoriented hand, coming from under the white bed sheets. The glass cap of the clock cracked when it made contact with the wooden floor which was followed by a muffled “damn”. Mirror jumped out of her bed, slipping on the metal part of the clock and falling on her backside.

“This is so not cool…”

It took her a second to realize where she was - the cozy room in Wammy’s House. Not that it was very luxurious. Actually the furniture consisted of a desk, a chair, her bed with a nightstand and a big cabinet and wardrobe. Oh, and a bathroom, too. She walked dizzily to the mirror above the sink and looked at herself. What a living nightmare. Then again no one really looked good in the morning after having tossed and turned himself all night in such a small bed.

After having done her bathroom errands, Mirror put her favourite white shirt and skirt on and then peeped at the timetable Watari had pinned above her desk.

“Breakfast at 7, Literature at 8…What is this, the army?”, she raised an eyebrow and looked at the alarm clock which was still working by the help of some miracle.

“Holy…! I’m gonna be late for breakfast…AND I’M HUNGRY!”

She tied her hair back in a ponytail and ran down the stairs hurriedly when she realized something. On the first floor there were three hallways. And she didn’t know where the dining-room was.

“Uh…by the laws of physics it should be to the north, in order to keep the food cold…I don’t know where north is.”

Then a miracle happened. A couple of boys came down the stairs and headed in the first corridor to the left. Assuming that they were here for the same reason as her, Mirror decided to stalk them unnoticeably. Seeing as they went into the third door on the right, she followed, and to her relief there it was - the holy dining-room. And something smelt oh so tasty…Realizing that she looked strange standing there and sniffing the air around, she sat on the nearest table, a few seats away from the boys that had led her here. The girl mentally thanked them and looked greedily at her chocolate bun and glass of milk. While she was busy making away with the delicious piece of food, Mirror noticed a young boy, probably younger than her, with silvery hair sitting alone on a single table across the room.

“That’s…kinda strange.”, she thought to herself.

The boy left long before she did, without looking at any of the other occupants of the room. After she finished her breakfast, Mirror headed over to the classroom as she had anticipated the situation and asked one of the boys for it’s location. It seemed that everyone here learnt everything in the building. After all, they weren’t normal orphans…

“Ah. Here it is.”, she mumbled and went in, trying to make as little commotion as possible. She didn’t want to be noticed by…

“HEY! YOU!”

There it was. The girl from yesterday who she had hit. How troublesome.

“Don’ss acss like you didn’ss hear me!”, she shouted and went up to Mirror. Her lower lip was swollen and she couldn’t talk properly.

“What do you have sso say for yourself?”, she demaned.

“You…look funny.”, giggled Mirror. The other girl raised one hand as to hit her but was stopped by someone.

“Eh, Yuri, you do look funny.”, said Mello. Her face was coloured by an angry blush as she freed her arm from his grip.

“HA! I figured you would make friends wiss ssis guy! You’ll regress ssis, losers.”, she said and sped to the other side of the room where she sat on a desk, surrounded by her girlfriends.

“Don’t mind her, she’s always like that. You’ll be yelled at for the fight later, though.”, said Mello, a cheeky smile on his face.
Mirror looked as though she was trying to remember something.

“Oh, I KNOW! You’re that guy from yesterday! Millow? Uh…Mailo?”
His left eye twitched painfully.

“It’s Mello.”, he roared.

“Yeah, that’s the one! So, how are you today?”

“Honestly…I was pretty relaxed up until now…”

Suddenly she noticed a head, covered by red hair, showing from behind his back.

“Oh and who’s that?”

“Oh he’s my best pal around here. His name is…”

“Hey, I think I’m capable of introducing myself, Mello!”, said the boy, finally showing his face which was almost immediately obscured by the blonde’s fist.

“Shut the hell up, can’t ya see I’m talkin’?”, snapped Mello. “As I was sayin’, his name is Matt. He doesn’t talk much.”

“Hey! What wa-”, but Matt couldn’t finish because of the other boy’s hand.
Mirror smiled at him and waved.

“Hello, Matt. My name is Mirror.”

He couldn’t answer for obvious reasons. She looked to the front row of desks and noticed the same boy from the dining-room.

“Oh, right. Who’s that boy, Mello?”

“…that’s the nerd around here. He knows everything and doesn’t speak to anyone. His name is Near and he pisses me off, the little bastard.”, Mello replied. He released Matt and sat on the desk next to him. Mirror followed his example, occupying the one opposite to it. The red haired boy stood in front of it and put one hand on either ends of the her desk.

“Now that I can properly greet you…hello. I like you, you’re cute.”, he said and smiled at her.

“Uh, right. You’re…pretty unique.”

Mirror held back the urge to say he looked like Christmas with all those rainbow clothes he had on. Her gaze fell on Mello who was trying to shoot a paper ball at one of the girls from Yuri’s company.

“He’s strange. Why does he hate that boy…Near?”, she acquired curiously.

“…you mean you don’t know?”

“Duh, I’ve been here for two days. And I’m not exactly fond of playing investigator.”

“Well, Mello and Near are…rivals. He’s always been second to him in everything. I guess it’s a little too much for him…oops.”

Matt stopped talking and was immediately made to sit by Mello who looked like Hell passing a de-flaming period. He punched the redhead hard and turned towards Mirror.

“Like I said, he doesn’t talk much.”

Mirror managed to utter a “weirdoes” before the teacher entered the classroom and ordered them to be quiet.
