It depends on the rescue really, if you tell him your story they might. It's more owner surrenders that rescues don't want to take. Normally the rescues take dogs from shelters, those that didn't get adopted, or couldn't be for some reason and that's why they don't take private surrenders. Your best bet is definitely a rottweiler rescue. He's a cutie-pie, that's for sure.
My girl in the icon (RIP) was picked up as a stray by the SPCA and they found her people, but they decided that the pound fee was too high, and didn't want to bail her out. She was a perfect dog. I can't understand why someone would have a dog for 7 years, and then just not pick them up. I'm glad they didn't because their loss was my gain, but I still don't get it.

Also consider other rescues not solely dedicated to rotties, such as Lost Angels and the St. Francis Society.
