Bit of a shocker

I got a call a week or so ago telling me that my brother-in-law had died of a heart attack. That kind of thing is bad enough under most circumstances, but he was only thirty six years old (three years younger than me) and most people who'd met us would agree that he certainly appeared to be fitter and healthier than me. Huge sympathies. My elder brother died a couple of years ago, and I'm still very far from over it. But he was in his mid-60s -- which is still relatively young, but not the mid-30s. I can imagine the hell you're going through.

Thanks Thog. Apart from a few phobia-related anxiety attacks, I'm doing OK. Chronic depression *is* good for one thing: near total blunting of all emotions, the bad along with the good. Hell was watching my dad die from a huge M.I. in the living room almost twenty years ago, which was almost certainly the trigger event for my phobia.

By the way, how are things post-op for you? I hope the recuperation went/is going well.

Hm. I guess so. Never much thought about it.

Thanks for the kind thought. There's a rotten cold-type bug doing the rounds at the moment and I've got it, so it's a bit difficult right now to tell how things are going. If you can avoid a string of ops like this, do. Oh, you'd guessed that already?
