DAY TWO - CAPSLOCK DAY

2. Your favorite book

I find it hard to chose between OotP and DH.  I loved OotP for Capslock!Harry, which annoyed so many readers. OotP switched something on, for me. Dealing with anger,  loss, grief and guilt brings the series completely elsewhere. What Harry lacks in subtlety, he brings in humanity. It makes no sense to me that he would soldier on and be free of breakdowns during the whole series. The kid saves the day year after year, sees himself in danger all the time, death surrounds him and he should take this calmly and pleasantly. You know, people rage for stuff that is quite less important than that. We project ourselves on the hero - we want him to be without flaws, or at least flaws that are honorable. Or flaws that are dangerous.

Anger is good. It means something needs to be changed. I do like that the hero got pissed off.

I like that OotP is an angry book. I loved all the Grimmauld Place's bits, the desperation of Sirius Black, Neville's story. I love Ginny's irritation at Fleur - who is grating. Ginny is definitely one of the most maligned characters of the series. I started to like Ginny a lot in OotP.

DH - well, it is obvious. Everything puts itself into place. I wrote on Miss Daizy's LJ that this book made me understand how much I cared for Harry. While I don't consider myself a shipper, seeing Hermione and Ron coming together was a lovely, lovely squealing delight.
.
And I don't care if the epilogue was fluffy or what. It fitted with the universe, it made complete sense to me that friends that have lived through it all would watch their kids leaving on that train to Hogwarts, together.
