I was curious as to whether you had looked into Cognitive Behavior Therapy? Sometimes, when used with Exposure Therapy, it can speed up the process, as well as enable the results to be more successful. It can also be used on its own. While most therapy types can takes years to reach a successful point, CBT often takes as little as 16 sessions. Here's a website that has some info. http://www.nacbt.org/whatiscbt.htm
I think maybe you had no emotion because the therapist having you imagine something terrible is quite a bit different than actually experiencing it. I found hypnosis to help battle PTSD, but that can be really expensive. Anyway, keep your chin up. You'll get through this.
