If you were to give your life to save another person, then those that loved you should love that person. They should love them even more than they loved you. If you find it worth dying for someone, then all the love your friends and family had for you should be transfered to that person. Then they should learn to love them for who they are.

I, personally, disagree. If I love someone, it's because of the individual relationship they and I share. It's like currency, which keeps its value when transferred from party to party. Now I'm not saying that if someone I loved died for someone else that I wouldn't love them, it just wouldn't be automatic for me. I trust most of my close ones' judgment, so the transition would probably be quick and smooth, but not automatic. What brought this up?

Had someone I knew who went to Iraq, just thought of a lot of things when they went over. This was one thought I had, and after quite a bit of thought that is the answer that came to me.
