[+] Love in a Cold Climate

Jun 21, 2006 13:03

I have fallen in love with yet another period film/miniseries (what a surprise). This time it is "Love in a Cold Climate" that has captured my imagination, directed by the wonderful Tom Hooper (Daniel Deronda, Elizabeth I) and starring Rosamund Pike, Elisabeth Dermot-Walsh, Megan Dodds, Christian Coulson and Alan Bates (among many, many other great ( Read more... )

These are wonderful. I've got no idea of the original source, but a few of them (Polly and Linda, from the text when I saved some) really echo my mental images of some book fandom characters.

Would I be able to put some short text over 8, 12, or 13? Just the fandom character's name, nothing elaborate.

Thank you so much for commenting, I'm so glad you like the icons! I really enjoyed the series, and I'm hoping to read the books soon :).

Of course you can add text! If you have any text in mind I could add it for you if that would be easier for you--I don't mind customization and (as you may have guessed) I have a bit of free time on my hands, haha.

Ah, well, I should be exceptionally busy, therefore I have heaps of time to add my own text to icons. I'm a little unsure of just *what* I want to use them for, too, so I don't have anything specific to put on them, but thanks very much for the offer.

*pets the pretty icons and runs off to GIMP*

Maggie! These take my breath away! The colors are so striking! I love it. I also like that you're experimenting with different styles. Like Licia said, the border is definitely not what I'm used to seeing from you, but I think they look good (esp. #2). Always try different stuff, it's better that way I think.

(Random: Rosamund is so icon-able. I can't believe she hasn't been in more films!)

Wow thank you! I'm really shocked and thrilled to get these comments from such a wonderful icon maker as yourself *blushes*. I am glad you like #2, it was something that, though not my style per se, was a good layout for that particular scene/capture. Trying new stuff is fun and helps me get better and better (hopefully!).

Rosamund is gorgeous, especially in a pretty (period) frock :).

Oh, how lovely! :) I've never heard of this mini-series, I must see it now... I do have the book on my shelf, though. *adds to summer reading list*

These icons really are lovely - you have done a great job! Definitely keep making them. :)

I'm not sure if it is okay to ask, but is it possible to get #25 and #27 as just a base? Those are my favorites. :D

You should see it! It is wonderful. Thanks so much for your kind comments, they are really encouraging "definitely keep making them" is just about the best comment an icon maker can get :D!

I am happy to provide the bases, as I realize text is not everyone's cup of tea :). Here they are:

Thank you so much! :) I adore them.

I must ask, what are you reading currently? (I love asking people that question.) I've definitely bumped up "Love in a Cold Climate" on my summer reading list.

You are very welcome :)!

What an interesting question! I just finished In Cold Blood by Truman Capote and started Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens. Next on my list is something by Anthony Trollope or George Eliot :). I would also love to read this series soon, as well!

Thank you for commenting, dear! You DO need to see this film: I must say that I didn't think I would be *this* obsessed with a period film that was set after 1914, but I LOVE this. The actresses, the costumes, the hair, the makeup, the story of course and did I mention the COSTUMES? The hats alone are enough to make me drool :D. I think you'd like it, too.

I've put it on my netflix list. It looks lovely and from what you've said I'm dying to see it.

It's funny how I can't really get too fangirly over a period film set after the Edwardian era either. The last period film I really liked was Ladies in Lavender and that was 1930s I think. Such a sweet film and shot just down the road from where I live *huzzah*. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing this film.

Did you say COSTUMES!!!?? *squeee*
