Medical Weight Loss Program Query

Dec 13, 2008 14:59

Does anyone have any medical weight loss program recommendations? Non-surgical is preferred? Something the is medically supervised and includes counseling would be ideal. Also, something covered by insurance would be great. Thanks in advance.

When I had lost the weight before the gall bladder surgery the doctor told me to eat 1400 calories a day. (Since you're a guy you probably should do 200 more than this.) He told me no bread and no dairy and to only drink water. He said get some exercise but didn't specify activities. I think I was going for 1/2 hour walks each day. Then later I got into skating.

Do an activity you like. I think you will have this part covered with your martial arts.

Doing this I lost 100 lbs. The first 60 in 6 months.

I have been having difficulty replicating it again.

In the past I found it very important to have things portioned in advance. To count calories. The key is organize a plan ahead of time because life gets stressful and to keep track of it like a bank account on a budget.

I put a book in the car for you.

Postive affirmations. That whole secret thing. Come up with statements as if you were already at your goal. I swear you'll look back a month later and be floored at how it will manifest.

There's a phrase from the meetings, "Hang with the winners." essentially, figure out how other people did it, because they are the experts.

Also along these lines is picking role models. What person embodies what you want as your end result?

Think it through... what seems like a short term good idea, may not if you think ahead.

Ask Mom and Alyssa... they did Weight Watchers and could tell you about their program.

It's all easier said than done but at the same time, the more you go towards your goals the more it will snowball into you succeeding.

I love you no matter what happens.

Oh, and they say that exercise rotation helps boost metabolism.

Cardio on one day, strenght training the next.

Or when out walking go for short burst runs during part of it.
