My laptop gave me a black screen of death for the first, and hopefully the last time last night (the night before I bought this laptop I discovered that this is a problem that some Toshibas have). Did it actually turn off or did the screen just go black? I never had a problem with the screen going black on my Toshiba (my current screen issues are the actually connection itself, so it shakes), but it took me forever to realize that it turning off randomly is to save it from overheating and frying itself.

The computer was still on, but the screen went black. Kind of like the lights were on but nobody was home. I heard about this problem literally the night before I bought the laptop, but I couldn't find enough solid information about it to turn me off from purchase.

I do think it's connected to it going into sleep mode when I closed the lid. I am not willing to experiment with that though.
