What's supposed to be a denunciation has instead made me want to shop at Whole Foods more often.

Most people who shop at Whole Foods are liberal yuppies ( Read more... )

Personally, I shop at Whole Foods because I like food that's not chock full o' crap and over-processed, and they sell it. And, he may be anti-union but he's pro-not-treating-your-employees-like-shit, which I find far, far more important.

But, yeah, I'm not really the sort to base my shopping decisions on the person who runs the company.

I admit to only knowing 5 or 6 people who shop regularly at Whole Foods, but all of them do it because of the high-quality organic and free-range/hormone-free foods. If you're going to eat mostly organic and healthy (and semi-eco-responsibly), there's certainly no better place in town to shop. I doubt any of them have any clue as to the store's reputed political leanings.

What the others said. I always thought that people shop at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's and such stores because they like the stuff, rather than because they think it's a particularly moral choice.

Anyway, you got to do plenty of supporting Whole Foods at the Gerald, considering that lots of people brought drink from there. Nice beer selection they had.

Well, there may be a portion of it that is a moral choice for some people. We're members of a CSA in part because we think that's how farming should be done, rather than endless fields of government-supported corn that nobody actually wants to eat.

Although it's mostly because we get yummy, in-season vegetables that way.

Still, there are almost certainly people who shop at those places for moral reasons, but not the moral reasons the author Roup linked to, but moral reasons relating directly to the food.
