The point of qwerty was inefficiency. Old style typewriters would jam a lot if the most use keys were close to each other. When more efficient machines such as computer came along and there wasn't any mechanical action it was too much of a switch for most typists and secretaries to deal with so QWERTY stuck.
I saw the Tour of California go through Davis today. They had come through Napa. We were a town with cowbells and more bike enthusiasts going crazy than ever. Now I've seen a bike race.

hmmm, looks like Levent got a good send off. congrats to Josh on seeing his 1st bike race - TdeCA rolling through Davis. mom and i saw them roll through Milpitas yesterday. it's fun to see the TV coverage of them on so many roads i'm familiar with. that qwerty story of it meant to slow down typing on old manual typewriters - i've heard that but always thought it was an untrue urbane legend.
