Song Memories
Jack felt normal. For the first time in a long time he felt like a normal human being, with a normal life, having a normal night out. With his normally normal boyfriend. Who was behaving decidedly unnormal!
Turning to place his empty glass on the bar behind him he jumped as a giggling Ianto once again took the opportunity to pinch his bum. Quick as lightening Jack grabbed hold of both of Ianto's wrists and pushed them behind the younger man's back. In this position his arms were almost fully round his lover and their bodies were pressed tightly together. Leaning forward Jack brushed his lips against Ianto's ear and growled deep in his throat, feeling an answering shudder run through the body pressed so close to his.
"Only start something that you're sure you can finish," he muttered, emphasising the last word with a roll of his hips before releasing Ianto and pulling away to gaze with mischievous delight at his lovers darkened eyes and parted lips. He really was gorgeous, Jack thought, especially with the multi-coloured lights of the club alternately lightening and then darkening his features, giving Jack but glimpses of the high cheek-bones, the cute nose and the tempting lips that he knew so well.
"What makes you think I can't follow through?" Ianto murmured, raising his famous eyebrow and swinging his hips seductively to the music as he edged close to Jack again.
"Ianto Jones, are you challenging me?" Jack grinned. He loved the verbal sparring that Ianto provided him with, never having to worry that the young man wouldn't keep up. Through past, and rather pleasurable, experience Jack had found that Ianto was more than capable of giving as good as he got.
Ianto opened his mouth to reply but before he even got a sound out the music changed and his eyes grew as round as the stopwatch he favoured. Grinning madly he grabbed Jack's hand and began dragging him away from the bar.
"Oh Jack! We have to dance to this one!" Ianto was almost skipping with boyish excitement.
Jack, who had been too engrossed with the play of expressions across Ianto's face to notice the song that was playing, tilted his head to listen. As the introductory notes ended and the song burst into fullness a mixed look of horror and regret spread over his face.
"Oh Ianto, I don't think...not this..."
"Come on, Jack. What's the matter?" Ianto was almost whining in his mixed state of drunkenness and excitement.
"Ianto, not this song, please. It's not...I don't like..."
"Jack!" Ianto looked scandalized. "How can you not like this song? It's pure 70's cheese!!" And Ianto began to sing along to the chorus, all the while dancing around Jack and manoeuvring him closer to the dance floor. "I lost my heart to a starship trooper, flashing light in hyper spa-ace. Fighting for the federation, hand in hand we'll conquer space."
As Ianto passed in front of him Jack grabbed the wiggling hips, forcing Ianto to stop dancing.
"Ianto, please. Not this one. It has...bad memories."
In answer, Ianto simply raised his eyebrow.
Jack sighed, lowered his gaze form Ianto's and said one word, "John."
Ianto froze for a split second, his eyes searching Jack's face as if looking for the answers of the universe. Then, with a slow, sensual smile spreading across his face he leaned close to Jack's ear and whispered "Let's change those memories, then."
Wrapping his hands in the lapels of Jack's shirt Ianto pulled him in for a hard, passionate kiss, his hands then moving down from Jack's chest to grasp his hips in a firm grip and begin to roll their hips together in time to the music. Being as close as they were Ianto felt when Jack took a deep breath and released it quickly. Feeling his lover begin to relax and his body begin to move of it's own accord Ianto eased backwards and linked his fingers with Jack's so that he could lead him to the dancefloor.
Swallowed by the crowd, Jack allowed himself to be lead forth. Turning, Ianto slid the hand that he was holding around his own waist, Jack bringing the other up to join it. Laughing in exhilaration, Ianto flung his arm's around Jack's neck and the two men began to dance, not a slow, sensual dance but a free, easy movement, pushing against each other when the crowd around them pressed close. Jack felt a weight leave him as he watched his young love loose himself in the music, moving without restraint or embarrassment, with no one to please but Jack and himself, his eyes shut in enjoyment, the lights playing with the features of his face as if to deliberately torment Jack with the beauty that was in front of him. As the chorus came into play one last time, Ianto lowered his head and opened his eyes to fix on Jack. The intensity of the look left Jack in no doubt: I lost my heart to a starship trooper...I lost my heart to you.
And in that moment Jack knew: songs could change their memories.
