Mamoru had managed to establish a positive first impression with Tot over the Pokégear between his alliance with Nagi and his new surname. It had the potential to be useful later if it became necessary to mediate between them and his former teammates.

Useful if the need arose, but for now, it was still preferable to remain with Ken and the others. He had a good idea what Nagi wanted to do now that Tot was in the world-- and he agreed with the decision-- but it did need to be formalized.

He left his Togepi with the others so that it wouldn't be a distraction and slipped outside. When he spotted Nagi, he nodded once to him and approached.

"Quite an unexpected turn we've had, isn't it?"

Nagi appreciated useful things. He certainly wasn't going to be the one to tell Tot that Mamoru was Omi and thus Weiss. Her recognizing Yohji would be trouble enough if the two groups ever met, even if Tot's umbrella wasn't here for her to fight with. Pokémon could likely be used to attack people as well as other animals and her Snubbull didn't seem too weak from what he'd quickly read about it.

He closed his bag when he heard Mamoru approach and nodded back. Even if this was a short talk, they needed to have it. "Very unexpected. It could have been worse for you four, though." If Neu or any other Takatori showed up, the fallout would be incredible.

"It still could be," Mamoru pointed out. There was no guarantee, after all, that they'd seen the last of the people they knew arriving in this world. Quite the contrary, the steady stream of late suggested they most likely would see more in the future. They might not be from the present time. And that meant they might be people who ought to be dead.

That had the potential to become very messy indeed.

"Well, what will you do?"

"I know." There was plenty of time for things to get worse and more complicated for any of them. People could still show up at any point like all of them had at one point.

The corners of Nagi's mouth lifted for an instant when Mamoru asked that. He had to know the answer already, but they didn't have a close enough relationship to go without asking things. Maybe they'd get there, maybe not.

"I need to keep her safe. This world isn't as dangerous for you as home is and Tot can't be on her own."

The answer was hardly a surprise. Somehow, Mamoru had a feeling they both knew this would happen once she appeared. It was inevitable, wasn't it?

"Yes. The threats in this world are fewer. Besides that... this is a chance you don't have at home. I think you should take it."

Nagi nodded. He still didn't know where Tot was at home despite both of them searching for her. He wanted to find her and keep her safe there too, but for now this was the only option he had to be with her again. Even if Mamoru hadn't given his approval, Nagi would have left.

Thanking him for his approval of their split didn't quite feel right, so Nagi didn't say it. "You can still reach me if you need me for any reason." Whether or not that reason would come up, Nagi couldn't know.

Mamoru nodded. "Likewise. Although we'll be going our separate ways, we're still allies." And this was really for the best all around. It had been awkward enough for the others to have Nagi nearby. Adding Tot to the group was truly pushing it, especially with Aya The Sister around. And he certainly could not expect Nagi to leave her on her own, especially when he had his former teammates here to fall back on.

He extended his hand with a gentle smile. "Good luck, Nagi-kun."

"I haven't seen anything from Crawford or Schuldig, but I'm keeping my eyes open in case they're just quiet and planning something." Nagi had to be wary with them around -- though they were still his old team, they didn't like Tot and he didn't think they'd make life very easy for her if they knew she were here. Weiss needed to take of themselves, and of Aya's sister, so it was easier on everyone if Nagi went his own way for a while.

Nagi shook Mamoru's hand and returned the small smile. "And the same to you, Mamoru-san."
