That's lovely, I'm sure she'll be thrilled to receive it. ♥

Quite the impressive hair-do too.

Isn't that hair-do interesting? *g* She spent part of her childhood living in the Black Forest. The traditional outfits there are interesting, too. Especially the hats...

Seems to me it took quite some time to draw it, especially her plaits (I looked up the word for you!). I like it and I'm sure she will be pleased.

It took four afternoons and evenings - I had a good quality photograph. I'm pleased with the outcome, nice to know you like it, too! I think my aunt will also like it, so I'm happy :)

PS: I would've called them braids, but I think that might be an AE/BE thing *g* Kudos to you for looking it up! As my old teacher used to say, "seven new words a day, at the least! And you have to know what 'mammal' means, even a four-year-old knows what 'mammal' means!" *g*

That's lovely! I would be very proud to get such a painting for my 70th birthday!
Memories...

My mother had a very similar hairstyle, but arranged to a 'monkey swing', and after complaining toooo much that it's old fashioned, her mother cut it right in the middle... :-)

Memories... Yes, I think she'll look at it with a laughing and a crying eye...

Oh Firle, no, don't give me an opening like this! *g*

*cough* Well, maybe that can be arranged. Can't be long, now ;P *ducks and runs*

Your grandmother sounds like she was a resolute woman!

Ah Firlelein, I was just joking! Baiting you with a little banter. Just couldn't resist. Are you mad at me?

I know what you mean with the laughing and crying eye. Yet I have to say, I greatly admire my aunt. She raised four children, all of whom are very successful in life. She likes to travel and does so a lot. She has led a good life so far, and is generally a happy, healthy person. What more can you ask when you turn 70? I think in this case she can look back at her life with two laughing eyes.

I wish I will be able to say the same about myself at 70. So far I haven't been very successful with my own life.

Bin nicht mad at you! ;-)
Ich wollte bloß dieses WE so viel schaffen und machen und tun - und nix ist... Und ich weiß nicht warum...

Beneidenswert Deine Tante!

"So far I haven't been very successful with my own life. "
Ja aber was zählt da? Was ist wichtig? Geld , Haus, Porsche, Karriere?
Frag mal Deinen Süßen - oder uns hier!
Also red' nicht so'n Stuß!

What a lovely, thoughtful present, I feel as if I know her! And I wish I had a niece like you.

You always manage to make me blush! Thank you, P, for the nice comment. :)

I'm generally not a model niece *g* I forget birthdays, hardly ever write or call, that sort of niece. The kind of person who will think of you fondly from a distance, but who isn't very good at exchanging social niceties. But the good thing is, my aunt knows me and just accepts me like that. So it's all good.

She did like the picture a lot I think. That makes me glad.
