Rita-Anne should have been in her room, but she was too miserable to be there. Besides, Terry would be there, and Terry was the last person she wanted to see right now. Jasper was headed to his room when he passed through the common room and heard Rita-Anne crying. "What's wrong?" He says with obvious concern in his voice as he walks over to where she was sitting.

Rita-Anne hands Jasper a letter, and keeps sobbing. The letter is written on black paper with silver ink, in a hard yet flowing hand. It reads:

Dearest Ritania,

My misdirection spell upon our enemies will soon end, and I fear that they will seek you out at Rowan before the beginning of the summer. I am making arrangements for you to go to another kingdom. I'm sorry, but Rowan has now been compromised. Knowing Duke Maldor, he will place someone in the school for the next year, in the hopes that you will be captured and used against me. We both know why that mustn't be.

I know you have been happy at Rowan, but you can not return there in September without endangering yourself, Terry, and your fellow students. As soon as I make preparations, I will send you a letter, detailing where you will spend the next few months. Be ready to leave immediately upon receiving it. I've been in conversation with Freeholders in White-Sands and in Pacifica. The freehold that won't take you in first will probably take you second ( ... )

Stunned from reading the letter Jasper gives Rita-Anne a big hug as she cries on his shoulder.

"This would be worse if Malor was gone? Why don't we help him stay around?"

She returns the big hug, and after a few moments gets herself calmed down. She peels herself off of him and wipes her eyes before answering.

"Maybe... But Malor's in the deep south and is as weak as a kitten... and he knows exactly where I am... Maybe..." she trails off for a bit. She slumps, but there's an accepting look on her face. "Maybe everything will turn out for the best?"
