Water's Edge is the longest, most coordinated thing I've written in my life (fanfic OR original), and, frankly, the work of which I am the most proud to date. It took me three years to write and I finished it about ten years ago. I immediately launched the sequel, High Tide, but after posting just six chapters, life sort of got in the way. And it's one of those unfinished THINGS in life now. I have other unfinished WIPS in subsequent fandoms, but some of them were just too specific to that era of my life and I wouldn't be able to finish them now. But X-Files is just such a basic TEMPLATE for how my brain works, I don't think I'd ever really be completely past it. It's too much a part of the fabric of my life and my becoming who I am today. And that second novel was quite thoroughly plotted and outlined, so I would really like to just get the damned thing WRITTEN some day. (And then maybe "scratch off the serial numbers" and turn it into an original novel :)).

Maybe I can just take this (belated) opportunity to say how much I enjoy your writing. I am a relative newcomer to the x-files fandom and I loved the shorter pieces of yours that I ran across (I can re-read Playing the Game over and over). I didn't know about Water's Edge until a bit later, but wow, what a treat! I adore it. It's incredibly hard to imagine creating a "top N" list of fic since there are so many good stories, but Water's Edge would definitely be on mine. I would obviously be ecstatic to read any more High Tide bits :)
