At a dinner a week or two karma came up. Someone was saying how awful Karma was and that it could not be trusted. This is a misnomer.
Karma is neither good nor bad. It simply is what it is. Closely related to the Law of Attraction (LOA), karma is a type a "balance" that levels the playing field of life. It's roots are based in the Universal Laws of Mankind. Very much akin to Druidic, Hebrew, Christian, Buddhist or pagan lore. What you put out, you get back 3, 7 or 10 fold, dependent upon whatever school of thought you adhere to.
It is always best to weigh words and deeds before they take shape, because what you toss out into the "pool" of the Universe will always come back to you, good or bad, like the rings of a stone tossed into a swimming pool, your deeds/words will bounce off the side of that pool and come back to you. It doesn't matter, they always comes back, bigger than they left you.
So, if you help someone, say someone with a flat tire, someone (either that person or someone else down the line, it don't matter) will assist you in a time of need, usually unasked and seemingly out of the blue. Conversely, if you run your filthy slop mouth about someone, who is innocent of what you are accusing them of, somewhere down the line someone will tell a truth/or even a falsehood, about you that you do not want anyone to know about, embarrassing you, or worse. They do not have to even know about what you did, because the Universe knows, and will set karma in action to kick you in the ass for them. They, never having to lift a finger for payback.
That's the beauty of karma. It *always* works whether or not you know about it. The Universe is "hard wired" for karma. Often being thought of as a tool to gently massage human thought and deed into a kind of peace loving balance (harmony). This is why being kind, thoughtful, and generally a "nice" person is so rewarding. You put out good and positive "vibes", you get back good and positive. You put out toxic BS and that is what you get back and normally in abundant quantities. Obscenely, abundant quantities.
Controlling your thoughts and deeds is of great importance for obvious reasons. Control will take effort to master, however eventually, with enough practice controlling your thoughts and deeds, you don't even have to think about censoring your thoughts for positive only, it will become second nature and truly a part of your being. Making you someone that everyone wants to be around.
Lets face it, who wants to hang with toxic waste?
Hopes this helps.
Hugs, y'all!
