As I bought pots, today, from the General Dollar (soooo much cheaper than Walmart or Kmart, even), I realized I'd entered another phase of my life: the gardening phase. I now have the moderate disposable income and the space to do what I've always wanted to do with a back porch

I've entered into a gardening phase too! Seth and I have been looking at planting a bucket garden for our balcony, growing fresh herbs and maybe some tomatoes. I also want to plant some flowers, to make it look pretty.

I tried the gardening phase several times. Once at our first house in Seattle that had a nice bricked off section for a garden. We did manage to grow some things, including weeds. About four years later, I decided to try *a* potted hanging plant. I went to Fred Meyer and bought the pot and flowers I wanted and they have garden people who will pot the plant for you and tell you how to take care of it. All I had to do was water it a few times a week. That lasted... oh, a month? If only weeds were pretty... I'd do so much better.
