Is it wrong and selfish that I simply don't want this burden? I mean, I'm all for helping out a fellow living thing, but this dog is inconvenient and stressful. Brandon's on-fire desire to help him out has waned, also, with the realization that this dog may have been better off put to sleep instead of this pain and suffering he's going through

It's not wrong and it's not overly selfish. Let's call it "less than saintly." This is not your dog. Someone else abandoned him and you don't have the resources to pick up their slack.

You're not selfish, you're honest. Acknowledging your limitations. Much worse not to and sacrifice eachother's interests for the dog.

But it was enjoyable watching Brandon's facebook flailing while it lasted... :-D
