I am now the proud owner of Mobile Speak version 2.0. I just registered the full copy and it seems to be working. The only thing I mentioned to te sales rep at the company where I bought it from is that th espeech seems to be a little stuttery, especially when I first turn on my phone or if I move through a menu too fast. That's cool, what new phone model did you get that was compatiable with mobile speak? And how come you chose moblie speak verses Talks?

I chose the nokia 6682 and I chose mobile speak instead of talks because a representative from optelec came nad showed me mobile speak in Chicago nad I liked the voice better. I'm used to dectalk and don't really like eloquence that much so I decided that since they were the same price and virtually the same software, I would just go with e one whose voice I liked better.

That's the trade off. With Mobile speak, you can use the dec-talk voices, but performance is a bit sluggish with MS and you do have some stuttering. There is still a great deal of customizability with Talks and you can choose from a variety of voices as with MS. Both software packages are fairly comparable.

I've actually seen sluggishness in both Mobile Speak and Talks, regardless of which speech engine was being used. One way to slightly reduce this problem is to reinstall MobileSpeak and make sure it and the speech engine are installed on the memory card instead of on the main phone memory. This takes some sighted assistance, but it is worth it as it really does improve performance. Also, remember, compared with your computer, you are dealing with a much smaller processor, so you are never going to get the responsiveness you get with Window-Eyes.

Yeah, I did reinstall it on the memory card actually, after reading the manual. lol And it didn't realy change much but it's not terrible. I just need to be less impatient. But thanks for the tip. I just saw how it performed on a call waiting and it was fantastic! So even with e stuttering, I'm loving it.
