My great-great-great grandparents were young when they married, and had no money for nice wedding bands, so my grandmother wore a small band made of tin on her finger. A few years later, they had saved some money, and were riding into town in a horse-drawn buggy. My grandfather turned to my grandmother and said "If I buy you a nice wedding ring ( Read more... )

Both my grandparents were in the Air Force. One day one of my grandpa's friends told him about this woman who was an amazing pilot (basically she could do all of the "boy" tricks). My grandpa was convinced that no woman could fly that well and he went to find her. He found my grandma and told her his thoughts on her likely abilities and challenged her to prove herself and she accepted. They went up in the plane and my grandpa was so confident that he wouldn't even wear his seatbelt. My grandma proceded to go through a series of tricks. When the plane touched down my grandpa had his insignia imprinted in his forehead from hitting the ceiling.

Some more than others I think... the thing is that it's just a big joke in my family. My aunt Tracy can tell you everything you ever needed to know about precious stones as they relate to jewelery (not geology or anything), and my aunt Toni is a jewelery artist. When my mom, her sisters and my grandma get together, they do know but go thru Grandma's jewelery playing dress-up and calling dibs. Seriously, it's rediculous.

My grandpa and grandma are very cute. They live nice and warm day very slowly. My grandpa is getting to be forgetting lots of things such us names and days. Even though my grandma keep saying he is...he is.., but also she says she will be so sad and miss him if she became alone. I can tell that they love each other a lot and are nice familys. I love them, and I am very proud of being with them.

It's great that you get to be spending this time with them! I'm sure they love having you around, even though we miss you here too!

I hope you are doing well, take care of yourself!

As a young lad my grandpa lived on a farm in rural texas. (That's probably redundadnt as Texas was all rural in those days). Anywho, legend has it he once tied the tails of two cows together. The reason behind this has since been shrouded in mystery, or quite possibly my own forgetfulness. Regardless, to his surprise the knot could not be undone. Undeterred by this he decided to rectify the situation by taking an axe and chopping the linked tails back in two. Later that afternoon, his dad wandered in to the house declaring he just saw one of their cows with a knot tied in it's tail, and another with nearly no tail at all. My grandpa, being of devine wit, cleverly concocted a story that was so fool proof it could not be broken. He denied knowldege of anything involving cows tails and/or axes. To this day, the men in my family have a penchant for tying cows together and then denying it later. So the next time you see Bessie mosey by wit a large knot in her tail...I had nothing to do with it.
