Advice on buying a new cell phone!

My Mum is buying a new cell phone and I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on the two she is choosing between.

The 2 choices are Sanyo 2900 and a Samsung A640.

Her main objective is something with good reception-her current phone is an old analogue, which is bigger than most purses but it works everywhere which is why she has kept it for so long!

I like the Samsungs and am getting a new phone that is the same brand. here is a link to a review of the phone.
