If it helps, just because he can't show it, doesn't mean he doesn't feel like an asshole for letting it get so bad that it ended. I bet he is upset, and knows he's an idiot and that he lost something awesome. It's just really too bad that he can't do a fuckin thing about cuz he's too much of a coward to say any of it.
