screaming!!!

I'm blocked so hard I've gone through sadness, to frustration, and right into screaming rage. I'm so mad at myself!! All the fucking words are there, all of them--I know where I want to go, and how I want to get there and how I can ease this new ending into the slave world fic without destroying the beginning work...well, not too much, I think. But ( Read more... )

*sigh* I've had a 6 month break. 😔 I still have hope.

Would it help to write it in an outline form, just to get the ideas down? Or maybe take a little break and come back to it later? Sorry it's so frustrating. *hugs*

The image is locked in my view. LOL, wait... that's what you meant. :-P Anyway... I feel for you, bb. What I used to do when that happened to me when I was writing was try to find something easy about the characters or project I was working on- something to just describe, or a bit of dialogue to write even if it didn't have a place in the story. I do this with Summergen almost every year--just describe something that sounds interesting or evocative to me. I often have a file of "outtakes" of various disconnected snippets before I even start writing the story in earnest, some of which never end up in the story, others of which might grow into something pivotal. I try to take the pressure off myself by saying "this isn't the real story" and sometimes then my file named "summergen 23" grows into the story itself, with far less effort than agonizing over trying to get the plot right in a specific spot.

Another thing I always do when I'm faced with a long or complex story I want to write is just a bulleted list of things I want to include ( ... )

No, thank you, this does help a lot! As soon as I can think about going back to this without feeling stressed, I need to use some of your ideas. Also will come in handy for next year's BB, if there is one. ❤️

What septembers_coda said--backstory and "oh look, a detail!," also outline. I never do an outline at the beginning of a story. It's usually about half or two-thirds through, when I have all the plotlines in motion and forgot how to tie off the knots. It's not a formal outline, more like a map. Here is the beginning of our story. Over there, across the valley, is a big giant tree, that's our ending. From here to there are other tall trees, and those are the things that must happen in order to get there; we move from tree, or plot point, to tree. Make sure this has to happen before that happens. Sometimes we have to backtrack. Writing it out like this helps--and also tucking in those amazing details we'd not thought of until last week ( ... )

*HUGS*

You are the best, you really are. And now, I'm going to do a whole new outline, using everything I know about the story now. In all the years gone by, this thing has changed a lot, so now I just have to give in and accept it with good grace and hope the readers can come along with it. My biggest mistake with this story was getting too caught up in this world and wanting to show every little bit of it, from start to finish. What was I thinking?? *wanders in the woods* 🌲🌲😐🌲🌲
