It's quite as I said above - the idea that "one shall use his or her talents and knowledge to the benefit of the patient, and never shall use his or her resources to harm intentionally".

Of course, that seems to be quite evident within the profession itself, yes?

I would not by any stretch of the imagination call myself a doctor, but I'm familiar enough with biological research.

I rather like to avoid taking oaths.

Having grown up in the family environment that I did, it would be very foolish to think I did not have the whole thing effectively drilled into my mind from day one a degree of exposure to such an oath.

Is this rhetorical, general curiosity, or is there something in particular you are hoping to gain as a result of these questions, Doctor?
