I believe you can get out of it because you are a primary caretaker for your child. This is one of legitimate reasons not to go. Did you tell this to them?
I got the summons in the mail last week. And I am on call starting this week. I simply did not have enough time to send them anything in the mail and get an answer. I will definitely tell them in person tomorrow.
On my summons it says that if I have a legitimate excuse (being the only caretaker is one of them) I can write a letter and ask for postponement or excuse. Since the summons arrived just a few days ago, I didn't have time to send them a letter. I absolutely have to show up tomorrow.
The problem is, I have to leave the house at 7:30 to get to the friggin place by 8. Natalia wakes up between 8:00 and 8:30. I can't imagine what she'll be like if I wake her up early in the morning and drag her to a courthouse. I am considering this option but it is not attractive at all. I think I'll go by myself tomorrow and tell them that I have a child and *threaten* to bring her with me if they don't let me go. :)

If you didn't, bring her with you - they will let you go right away.

Меня, как ни странно, еще ни разу не вызывали.
