Jury duty in Massachusetts anonymous September 27 2005, 17:20:55 UTC
I just did it last week. We have a "one day or one trial" system whereby you're either there for one day or one trial, & 97% of jurors leave in less than 3 days. though massachusetts used to have that 30-day thing years ago; unless you had an 'important' job like Doctor or Lawyer or something, in which case you were exempt; so it was set up to be 'by a jury of your poors.'

i didn't get picked (tho i was in a courtroom of people being dumped in the jury box), so i was out by half past noon*
