Not fat darn it... *grumps*

Okay, I have refused to call myself fat since like.. forever ago. I've seen people who were scarily obese. (These are people in the extreme, of course) But I also keep in mind that it's not the number that matters so much as how you wear it as well as muscle vs. fat ratio. Muscle weighs more than fat, so that kinda skews the numbers a little in ( Read more... )

Usually after dinner I only let myself drink water. Anytime I start craving anything, food or drink, I drink the water. And when I started doing that, I lost about 5 pounds that month.

I'm also working on getting myself to exercise. I need to get myself in the habit of taking Roxie out for "walks." I use the term "walk" loosely since she ends up making me sprint for portions of the outings.

As for the sleep thing... I can sympathize there. I have trouble getting up in the mornings since I have to schedule my sleep around Ryan's feedings. Being woken up every night around 3 am really plays havoc with the sleep schedule. And Joel's snoring doesn't help. I keep telling him to talk to the doctor about it. I've also thought about buying him a mouthguard. I see commercials for some "intra-oral appliance" that keeps the jaw relaxed while you sleep to accomplish the same thing as a C-PAP machine. It looks like the splint the dentist gave my mom for her TMJ, so I'm wondering if a sports mouthguard would have about the same effect.

Also, on the water thing, the recommended 8 glasses a day isn't 100% accurate. The more accurate amount is your weight divided by 2 as ounces. So, for example, I weigh between 150 and 155 which means that my minimum daily recommended amount of water is about 75 - 80 ounces. That's the minimum. For anything I drink that is not water, I should have double that in water to make up for it. So say I have a 20 oz coke. To balance that I should have another 40 ounces on top of the minimum 80.

I was shooting for the 80 ounces when I dropped 5 pounds in a month. I didn't even make up for my daily diet coke, and I was still having success. Of course, with my parents visiting this week I've been a very bad girl about my diet, but I'm already getting myself back on track.

That sounds like a good habit I should start, drinking only water after dinner...

You've NEVER had a Schorle?
Over here it's on every restaurant's menu. Something comparable that I know you're probably familiar with is Sparkling Cider. Sparkling Cider and Apfelschorle are pretty much the same thing, only Sparkling Cider tends to be a little sweeter (like most everything in America). Over here they will Schorle just about anything for you. Mangoschorle is really good, as well as Johannisbeereschorle (Johannisbeere is a small red berry, I think you would call it a Currant). I drink a small glass (about 8 oz.) just about every day. I really feel it helps to settle my stomach before bed. I usually use a Pomegranite blend to make my Schorle, POM is the brand we have over here, I particularly like the Pomegranite-Blueberry. :D I usually just pour half a glass of Mineralwasser and then pour in my juice until it looks good.
