I am a journalist and I have frequently told my boss when I thought she was wrong. Sometimes it does involve swearing. It depends on your relationship with your boss. And the situation.

Sounds like you have a great relationship with your boss. This is a new boss, on a weekend job. I will try swearing and see if that can help jumpstart our relationship.

I generally protest mildly, if she's in a mood to listen great, if she's in a mood to scream at me I shut up and do what I'm told.

Always ask if you have doubts about a situation.

Quit when you are asked to compromise professional ethics or personal principles.

Everything else should be negotiable, which means sometimes you give in.
