I am sitting here searching through profile after profile looking for a beta for a new story. I don't understand how this process is so hard. Sigh. It also makes me feel like such a horrible person at times

Most really good betas don't even have a beta profile on ff.net. Why don't you contact some of the authors on your fav list? They may be available to beta for you or at the least recommend someone to you. It beats having to go through the list of betas on ff.net.
I remember when I went through that list back in the day. It took me over a week to sift through the profiles and even then I couldn't find a single person to help me. :(
Why don't you just ask your current beta to help you? I have a list of betas who assist me with my writing and I have further condensed that list to a select few who are my personal favorites. They're more than willing to help me but can't guarantee a return of the chapter within a week. At times I have to wait a week or two but it's worth it.
I ask miss stigma once but I forget who she said lol. I gave up looking through the profiles it was pointless. 90% of them are not active.
See I'm really REALLY bad at favoriting. I always forget. I have like 5 one my list. one is my current beta stigma the other is a friend but I do not like how she betas and other I can't remember who she is. and the last two are one person. Shes my closes friend and idk if she would do it or not. Shes not real big on Inuyasha.
You should still ask her if she can beta for you. My main beta hates Sessh/Rin pairing but she's very professional while beta-ing for me. For all you know, she may be the best beta you ever found!
I am busy as well but if you can give me some details about the story you want me to beta, I can see if I can find time. I've read your writing and you're at a much higher level than some authors out on ff.net!
^^ I would ask her. I'm one of those people who hate to burden other people. I feel like I'm asking her to fly to Japan and tap dance on the streets until someone pays her with a Kimono. Lol What I like about Stigma is her and myself are both dyslexic. She understands me on that level ^^.
