  2. When commenting, place the character's name and series in the subject.

Any advice would be appreciated, but I'm most worried about how I should handle his accent.

Well, his accent isn't exactly consistent in canon! So you can handwave it a lot. If I recall, the Cielo in our game went through the gamelogs and picked up on a few trends - a lot of d substituted for th, like in they and that and this; less so with the, though you see him use "de" here and there. He doesn't cut off the gs in -ing words as much as you'd expect, but that's noticeable sometimes too.

In general, I'd just advise you to keep in mind that he's not a happy-go-lucky kid. He's an adult who copes with the fact that they're cannibal demons eating their way through the games in his own oblique way, even if it comes out more subtly than a lot of the other DDS characters. And his primary motivation seems to center around his comrades - you really get his serious side when dealing with issues having to do with that.

Good luck.

I'm not perfect about it myself! I do a terrible job with remembering to adjust the grammar the way he does. But I have some accurately transcribed scripts from the game over here if you want to look. They're not complete because I got lazy, but at least they're accurate. (If you need more, ask? I have them all written down, I just haven't typed them up. I may or may not depending on my mood ( ... )

Endgame?

The primary thing people get wrong with Dist it that they play him as a retarded flamer. He's psychotic and cruel, with just as much intelligence as Jade. He's socially inept, obviously, but I see many people play him as fairly bumbling and harmless. Prone to flailing, yes. That doesn't mean that he's weak.
His relationship with Jade is a tricky one, as well. He adores and idolizes Jade as he was when they were children. It's almost as though he believes that there's something wrong with adult Jade. He desperately wants everything to go back to the way it was when they were children ( ... )

Seconding the above comment so much, though my opinion might not be worth much since I've been hesitant to play him anywhere. I'm so used to seeing the absolutely harmless fabulously gay (~~~*FOR JADE*~~~♥) little-girly let's-go-play-with-dollies Dists being played everywhere and I spend half the time convinced that I must be gotten character completely wrong somewhere along the lines. Maybe I exaggerated with the description of some of them a bit, and maybe it's not THAT far off, but people tend to play it up a LOT and it just seems ridiculous and horribly out of character to me. So, uh, don't do that ( ... )

The thing people seem to forget is there's a reason people avoid him, beyond simply his tendency to talk about himself and how lovely Jade is. He's creepily obsessive and seems more like a shell of a person than anything else--his heart's stuck back in Keterburg, twenty-five years ago, and as a result, his personality has never really developed past that point. He's only half-aware of his present life, preferring instead to live in his fantasies about his childhood. People are nothing; Anise wasn't anything, even. He appreciated her being there in a distant sort of way, but she's still part of the hated future he's currently living in, so he won't let himself form and real connection with her. He'd be acknowledging he'll never get back his childhood otherwise. And that's just no good ( ... )

how do you NOT do it wrong?

Sora is naive, NOT an idiot. He doesn't have ADD and he isn't going to wander off from important things in search of sugary treats or the next shiny thing. He grew up a lot over the course of the games.

Sora can joke around a lot and tease people, although he mostly saves this for his really close friends. He has a lot of confidence in himself, too, and he can pick up pretty quickly when someone has bad intentions. He also won't take just anything sitting down, too. If someone tries to pick a fight with him, he'll fight back. He's not a pushover.

Basically, don't have him become super best friends with some violent, abusive guy who pins him to the ground and beats him up and bullies him, while Sora just lies there crying and asking the guy to please stop. I've seen this happen, and it's awful.

Don't ignore one of this Destiny Island bffs because of a relationship with one of them. Even if there is something more than friendship for whatever reason, ignoring the other one is just a big no-no I've seen that done to way too many Kairis and Rikus alike.
