Mmm I'm pretty bad at giving advice in general (especially if there's no particular topic to give me some direction) but let's give this a shot.

I guess one of the things I'd start looking at is which parts of her shown personality in the game are Shiki, and which parts are Eri. Shiki says that she "acted like her-- all bubbly and cute. But it was just an act." I'm of the opinion that even though she says that, Shiki was only partially acting; I think Shiki herself has a bubbly and cute personality, but because of her jealousy of Eri, she doesn't realise it. I feel that Shiki's personality and the way she does things doesn't really change from before her character development, aside from Shiki being freer from her jealousy. It could be partially because, despite her character development, she still is stuck in Eri's body, and it's hard to just... completely drop the farce of not being entirely herself because she doesn't feel like herself. It could also be because that is Shiki, someone bubbly and cute, but tries to hide her bad ( ... )

It isn't really Eri's body that Shiki's jealous of... it's everything that Eri is and that Shiki thinks that she is not: popular, chic, creative, confident... Eri's actually looks are on that list, but I'd put them near the end. I'd relate that back to the fact that her entry fee is her own appearance too. What Shiki truly desires most is to be happy as herself. If you take her from a point where she's still stuck in Eri's body, that is going to affect her. I agree with the above anon that it's only half an act; she does have things in common with Eri otherwise she wouldn't be friends with her in the first place. If you take her from postgame where she does have her own body, that doesn't necessarily mean that all of her self-confidence issues are resolved. They are probably a lot better, yes, because she's been through a fight for her life (and all of Shibuya), but being uprooted from her home and thrown into an unfamiliar setting wouldn't be helpful for that. She's only just starting to learn how to be satisfied with herself ( ... )

I am having so much trouble pinning how he talks to people and how he reacts to things and blah blah blah. Mostly because he just gets progressively more and more insane as the canon progresses, but.

Yeah.

She's not a very frequently played character, and there are different ways to play her depending on what point in her life you're taking her from (whether she's still pregnant, or when she's on the run with the New Avengers). It'd be really interesting to see how other people feel about her characterization.

Any advice would be wonderful, though I'll likely be taking him after episode 18.

General points:

Keep in mind that Franz is still fifteen years old. Though he is very mature and intelligent, he still lets his impulses get to him from time to time (see: the slap from episode two). Even the voice of reason is only human.

Do not play up the gay. Yes, Franz isn't straight, but due to his societal conditioning and other factors, you're going to have one hell of a time getting him into a relationship with another male.

On that note: Franz puts on the image of being a playboy. In one of the supplemental materials in the manga*, Albert says that he wants to fall in love and be monogamous, unlike Franz who "plays around with girls." This also explains the Countess G--'s familiar and flirtatious behavior around him.

Lastly: All of his friends are very important to him. Yes, Albert is the one he considers most precious (to the point of tunnel vision wherever his safety is concerned), but he cares about Eugenie a lot too. And because I've actually heard this: No, he does not hang around Albert just because he ( ... )
