an update

Shoot. I never post in this journal anymore. There will be a slew! of posts, (well, that is, at least several) over the next couple of days, as lots has happened today, this week, this month, this year. Well, lots always happens, but lots has happened as of late that is worth putting into words.
(Possible topics include--chocolate pie, books, Scranton wedding, aikido, food, chicago, the summer, taste of Chicago/evanston/adventures, cataracts, rooftops and tunnels, winter quarter, computer programming, Border Collies, etc.)

Today I went to meeting at the Quaker House and attended a lecture on Islamic mysticism, ate lunch, went swimming in the lake, read beside the lake, slept beside the lake, sat in the park and talked to Liz for nearly 2 hours, ate some awesome! cheese and crackers, then wandered around Hyde Park for a couple of hours. What a wonderful summer sunny day.

We have a song we sing at camp that goes like this:

I'm alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic.
I'm alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic.
I'm alive, awake, alert; I'm alert awake alive;
I'm alive, awake, alert, enthusiastic.

Since (approximately) January, I have been very very happy with Chicago. She and I have finally made our peace, I think. More on this later, but I'm alive and the city is alive and everything is a strange sort of wonderful these days.

(Oh, and here's Carolyn and I having fun at Macy's)

(And yesterday, there was a squirrel in my kitchen. A real one!)
