Because my gas station is 10 times cooler than yours. Also, I think I'm getting a turtle. Or being given a turtle by a friend who doesn't want the thing anymore. A 7 year old Red-Eared Slider. Did you know Red-Eared Sliders can live 30-40 years??! My dad says "Do you really want a turtle for that long?" Perhaps he does not realize the awesomeness ( Read more... )

Its not as much of a commitment as parrots, African grays can live to 80 or 90. At least with the turtle you won't have to ensure that someone will take care of it when you are old and decrepit.

Parrots are crazy. My uncle has an African Gray, it's like having another child who is forever 3 years old.

my uncle raises endangered turtles. they do live for a long time and are amazing. i'm in for a 30 year committment with my dove :)

he used to have map, softshell, painted, spotted, and bogs, but he downsized somewhat and now just has spotted and bogs, bog turtles being pretty rare/endangered/stuff. they're pretty!

Turtles are indeed awesome.

Did you ever read "Small Gods" by Terry Pratchet? I think it is my favorite Discworld book and it features a very special turtle.
