having fun casanova?

* Nothing could have tickled Eames more than hearing that Arthur had agreed to (which is to say, was just short of coerced into) a dinner with Andrés Echevarria; a fellow point with a penchant for Arthur that he put very little effort into concealing. Whatever Arthur was calling it, everyone who knew Andrés would know what he'd be doing his best to turn it into. *

[ Arthur's irritation at the entire situation spikes sharply when his phone buzzes away in his breast pocket. He expects some half-cocked story from Echevarria, coated in excuses. Instead, what he gets is a text from Eames. Hastily, he answers: ]

Not in the mood, Eames.

o come now. hes wooing u. let him get u in the ~mood

* If we're being honest here, Eames is in her hotel, her shoes off but her pearls still dangling from her ears because they cost a small fortune that Eames had obviously liberated on a five finger discount. Maybe she's a little... chuffed that a nice man wants to take Arthur out on a date and she's home looking over files. Talk about a role reversal here.

So. She's going to fall back on gossip, and obviously Arthur is the juiciest piece of gossip she has access to at the moment. *

That would require him being here in the first place.

[ Which is Arthur's way of telling her I told you so. He's not quite above taking one for the team, but all risks and sacrifices had to come with the promise of an equal or greater reward. And Echevarria's investment was not business-minded (which equated basically to 'unpredictable' in Arthur's book). In the end, he'd pushed for other, more viable alternatives. But Eames had a way of being convincing at times.

Much to Arthur's chagrin. ]

what?

* Which is just the kind of text that gets on Arthur's nerves, but it's not her usual lazy spelling error and that should say something. Checking her phone again, the time reads twenty two minutes past their designated "meeting" (DATE) time and anyone who knows Arthur would realize that for something like this, its best to arrive ten minutes early. Andrés wouldn't risk Arthur getting there without a rose in hand (Hispanics, you can't even beat the romantic out of them) and a sickeningly sweet something to say about the way Arthur looked that night. *

ur at the right place yeah?

* As strange as it sounds, Eames is more willing to believe Arthur is in the wrong place (the chances of this happening are roughly one in four hundred thousand, but Andrés' luck might just be that bad) than the other point not showing up for the date he's nearly been hounding Arthur for since he first laid eyes on the other man. *

[ Arthur practically bristles at the insinuation which is, right now, nothing less than insult to injury. It was bad enough that Eames refused to admit the fact that she'd be wrong about the whole scenario, that possibly she'd misread Echevarria's intentions from the very start. But did she really have to question his ability to perform simple, menial, mindblowingly simple tasks? ]

Not going to dignify that with a response.

* If she was misreading Echevarria's intentions, then so were the vast majority of their happy little dreamshare community. It was actually kind of painful, to be perfectly honest, how much of a crush the other man had on Arthur- the product of growing up watching too many dubbed James Bond movies and finally meeting up with a suave international criminal who looked as well put together as Arthur does. She can't blame the guy for liking the view, but Arthur's way out of his league.

Out of all of their leagues, more than likely. *

thats insane. he must b on his way. knowing u he has 12 passiv agressive mssgs on his mobile chastizing him 4 bing late.

* And yet, even though she wants that to be true, she's fastening her heel's straps around her ankles. How peculiar... *

I haven't called, no. And I don't intend to. This was a missed opportunity and I'm treating it as such.

[ In fact, Arthur is in the process of signaling for the waitress again, but the establishment is classy and puffed-up with its own self-importance so the wait-staff don't so much attend to the customers as make themselves available as they see fit to the experience they'd like to create. It is, needless to say, painstakingly tedious to actually flag one down if you're looking to speed up the process -- something that the staff here doesn't take too kindly.

He makes a mental note not to come here again. ]

wasnt aware u made personal calls.

* Which is to say she'd meant 12 passive agressive text messages because his mobile is very much a work phone, but still, the thought of Arthur sitting at some posh little table set for two, the tea candle set in the middle of the table, burning itself to a waxy death as Arthur feigns ignorance of the passing minutes, barely keeping his right leg from bouncing under the white tablecloth... Eames won't allow it. *

u shuld giv him 10 mor mins. think about his poor litl heart. or. think about the job.

* Eames is dressed, downstairs, and across town in record time, hoping against dear old Murphy and his blasted laws that Arthur hadn't changed the venue at the last minute. Shoving the keys to her 760i into the hands of the bored looking valet boy, Eames slips him a couple bills and doesnt wait for her ticket-- he'll remember her. Walking into the restaurant and past the greeter with an assurance that he need not worry about seating her (there's already one waiting for her, if Arthur hasn't left already ( ... )
