Some days I want to quit writing for L5R. We work our asses off and sometimes it seems that all people want to do is complain... usually because the story didn't go exactly the way they wanted it to

It wasn't me was it? :( I try not to criticize...because, really who am I to judge. Meanwhile I am a bit of a music elitist...but I wouldn't write the band and tell them they sucked just because I wasn't into it. I prefer the "every poet has a listener soulmate...and if that ain't you, then go find another poet" attitude. I haven't read L5R, but I imagine the squeaky wheels are the loudest...just like bad taxi drivers...they're the only ones you notice...too many analogies...what I am trying to say is...you rock.

I think this whole push to "audience interaction" and comment streams and everything is counter-productive. There's a place for valid criticism and then there's just providing a forum for random people to bitch. Instead of making art into a conversation between the artist and the audience it either stifles expression completely or bends it to the whims of the crowd.
Well, to be fair, I had opened up discussion on the topic... but the topic was about the subject of the poem, not whether I suck.
I mean, I am used to beign judged (obviously... I am a slam poet) but this caught me off guard. Especially coming from someone who is vocally not-a-fan of slam poetry. That is like me going to a Corb Lund fan site and giving a review of his latest album. What does it serve?
